UCSC Astronomy Club
I give public lectures, host star parties, and perform classroom visits as a member of the UCSC Astronomy Club. I have given public talks at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History and Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. I’ve also brought solar telescopes to local elementary classrooms.
I serve as the “co-Czar-Czar”, the graduate student elected by my fellow students to be the liason with faculty and to lead the self-governance of the Astronomy & Astrophysics graduate students. During my term as co-Czar-Czar, we have implemented a monthly discussion about diversity and equity issues in academia. We also brought mental health awareness and training to the faculty.
Graduate Student Commons
I am the elected Treasurer of the Graduate Student Commons, a graduate student owned and operated building at UCSC. As a member of the building governance board, I’m in charge of the annual budget, financial operating of the GSC, and the long term financial stability of the GSC organization.
